Helena’s Mayor Wilmot Collins was the guest speaker at the Great Falls Rising July meeting, held Tuesday night (July 31st) at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation. Wilmot spoke of the challenges faced when his home country, Liberia, became politically unstable. After escaping to Ghana and the Ivory Coast, he was able to begin the process of coming to America to join his wife. She had won a scholarship to Carroll College, and with their newborn daughter, waited about two and a half years for Wilmot to finally join them. He also discussed running for mayor and experiences after he was elected. Great Falls Mayor Bob Kelly gave a nice introduction before Wilmot spoke.
