GFR Gives Thanks to our Schools’ Frontline Workers: East Middle School and Sunnyside Elementary

Great Falls Rising is acknowledging groups that are serving our community as “Frontline Workers.” Our first recognition is our Great Falls Public Schools. Our teachers, staff, administrators and all GFPS employees have fulfilled their duties to our children during a very difficult time in their careers. The pandemic has presented challenges far beyond anyone’s imagination, and our educators and front-line support staff have continued to perform their jobs admirably. We will highlight two schools each week.

Brian Held, principal, (brian_held@gfps.k12.mt.us) states, “At
Sunnyside Elementary we are building a learning community that supports academic rigor and compassion in a safe, nurturing environment. Our goal is to prepare students for the future as productive and independent thinkers. We currently have an enrollment of 383 students who are supported by 25 full time teachers, various educational specialists, support staff and administration.”

Brad Barringer, principal, (brad_barringer@gfps.k12.mt.us) says,
“Each student at East Middle School prepares for the challenges of the 21st Century by focusing on effective communication, critical thinking, and creative problem solving to become positive contributors to the global, technological society.”
