GFR Gives Thanks to our Schools’ Frontline Workers: CMR HS and Whittier School

Great Falls Rising is acknowledging groups that are serving our community as “Frontline Workers.” Our first recognition is our Great Falls Public Schools. Our teachers, staff, administrators and all GFPS employees have fulfilled their duties to our children during a very difficult time in their careers. The pandemic has presented challenges far beyond anyone’s imagination, and our educators and front-line support staff have continued to perform their jobs admirably. We will highlight two schools each week.

Corri Smith, principal, (corri_smith@gfps.k12.mt.us) tells us that Whittier School is a small, neighborhood school situated in downtown Great Falls within walking distance for most of our families and surrounded by historic buildings that hold special significance to our community.  Staffed with a kind, caring family of 25 educators with over 250 collective years of experience and a passionate support staff, our school is one of the oldest standing, but within its walls modern technology, highly effective instruction, and a sense of community abound.  We are a welcoming, diverse, forward-thinking partnership of educators, students, and family members who look for every opportunity to team with our supportive, generous community in Great Falls. If you can be anything–Be Kind!

Kerry Parsons, principal (kerry_parsons@gfps.k12.mt.us); states
CM Russell High School, home of the Rustlers, is a comprehensive AA high school.  We believe in supporting students with caring staff members, rigorous instruction, and a variety of extra-curricular offerings to engage every student.  CMR is “A better place to learn and teach where relationships lead to success.”
