From Casey Perkins, Montana Wilderness Association:
Good news – the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest has just extended the comment deadline for the forest plan revision until October 9th.
This is great news because wild places like the Badger-Two Medicine, the Big Snowies, and Nevada Mountain need YOU to send in a comment supporting their protection.
Forest planning is a complex process involving numerous management options (“alternatives”, in Forest Service language), but we’ve made it as simple to understand as possible: MWA is advocating for a blend of Alternatives B and D that would recommend 14 areas, totaling over 300,000 acres, for wilderness protection.
To learn more about the nuts and bolts of the forest planning process and see all the alternatives, please read my recent blog post.
Again, we are advocating for a blend of Alternative B and D.

Though the planning process is complicated, commenting is easy. We all have our own reasons for wanting to see more of our wild public lands protected. Please share your reasons with the Forest Service today.
