The State of Great Falls Public Schools

Great Falls Rising asks you, “Have you ever seen a successful community that doesn’t have educated citizens?” Well, we’re going to make sure that Great Falls remains in the category of educated adults and children. How can you help support our fine schools?

You are invited to our Tuesday, February 25th gathering focused on Public School Education at the Church of the Incarnation Episcopal Church, 600 3rd Ave. N. The event begins at 6 p.m. with a short period for greeting the speakers and other attendees. At 6:15 the program begins.

We have six very successful educators who will be presenting to you their corner of the public school world in Great Falls, from pre-K to College to citizen school board. May we introduce the following:

Jan Cahill – Chair of the GFPS Board of Trustees
Colette Getten – GFPS Early Childhood Education Coordinator
Drew Uecker – Principal Paris Gibson Education Center
Susan Wolff – CEO/Dean Great Falls College – MSU

Tom Moore – Superintendent Great Falls Public Schools
Jamie Marshall – Chair of KEY (Kids’ Education YES!)

Their talks will range from why we have a citizen board to guide the work of GF Public Schools; the importance of beginning education of ALL children before they enter kindergarten; what is involved in education at an alternative high school; the career and life-changing partnership created by the Great Falls Public Schools and the college; the importance of supporting our public schools in Great Falls; we need the support of our community to provide an educated citizenry; how a community-led advocacy coalition works to support public education in Great Falls.

After all the speakers have presented their thoughts, we’ll have a question and answer period. Please bring your family and friends and your thoughtful questions.

For those of you who cannot attend in person, a Facebook LiveStream will be available from the GF Rising Facebook page starting at 6:15 p.m.

Prior to the gathering, Aart Dolman will host his monthly book review. This month’s book is To End A Presidency: The Power of Impeachment, Basic Books, New York, 2018, by Laurance Treibe and Joshua Matz,

As has been demonstrated on 02/05/20, the authors address one of the most urgent questions: when and how to remove a President of the United States. Impeachment is the ultimate constitutional check against an out-of-control executive.
